Shane Hannam
Shane has more than 20 years’ experience of working in the global travel and events industries. After a period in financial conference sales straight after university, Shane joined the international sales team at Reed Exhibitions, where he worked across multiple events and industries.
In 2006, he got his first taste of the business events industry when he moved to Reed Travel Exhibitions as Sales Manager for Europe and the Middle East. With this strong commercial grounding and knowledge of both international and domestic markets, Shane then progressed through various key roles, including Sales Director at Reed Exhibitions, a role which included the creation and roll out of the Global Key Account Management Programme at Reed Travel Exhibitions. Shane was a group commercial lead for space and non space revenues across global travel events brands such as WTM, IBTM and ILTM. Shane held this position for four years before taking on the role of Portfolio Director at IBTM in June 2018.
This was a senior role spearheading the world’s leading global business events portfolio, comprising five events in multiple regions. Responsibilities included full multi-million-pound P&L responsibility, strategic direction, team leadership of 50 plus team members across three continents, driving the portfolio through industry thought leadership and driving commercial goals across all events in all regions and the portfolio. Further responsibilities focussed on brand and marketing strategy. In this role, Shane was tasked with turning around an underperforming business to one that achieved highest growth and commercial success in 10 years.
In September 2021, Shane joined Montgomery Group, initially on a short-term contract, to lead the Montgomery Events Division.
Shane is married, with two children. He is a very keen cyclist, junior football coach and enjoys cooking, travel and gastronomy.
